Karnak Temple

Karnak in Luxor is a huge Temple. This 200+ acre site is the largest religious site and temple in the world and is a monument in the ancient lost city of Thebes. UNESCO led a project to support the archeological work around this site. They designated Luxor as an Open Air Museum and moved over 700 residential houses, between 2007 and 2021, to a new area to preserve this historic site. Just one meter below the surface of where a residential house had stood was a complete boat. The work is still ongoing on this is a beautiful site. The statue of the Scarab Beetle is meant to grant your desire if you think about it whilst circling the statue anti-clockwise. A little bit of fun for the visitors 🇪🇬 #Egypt #Luxor #Thebes #Karnak #Temple #UNESCO #sphinx #obelisk | The Organised Explorer
