> The magnificent and historic TV Tower in Tallinn, Estonia. This TV Tower was built for the 1980 Moscow Olympics. Tallinn hosted the Sailing events and this tower was built to provide better communication methods during those Summer Games. It was built with Scientists to ensure it would withstand the cold climate and the concrete has been approved to 300 freezing and thawing cycles! The TV Tower also has an important place in Estonia’s freedom from Occupation. In 1991, radio operators risked their lives to protect free media. Jamming the lift doors, the only way for the Soviets to get to them was via the 1000+ steps to the top. A brave and heroic move for the people of Estonia.
