Baltic Way Footprints Across Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius

Share

There is a special tile placed in Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius with the Baltic Way Footprints engraved. These tiles represent an incredible moment from 23 August 1989 where approximately 2 million people joined hands in a human chain spanning over 600km/419 miles. Stretching from the centre of Tallinn all the way down to the Cathedral in Vilnius, the show of strength and unity in the strive for freedom has been remembered with these special tiles. πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ͺ The tile is located on the small hill behind the Freedom Monument πŸ‡±πŸ‡» The tile is located on street leading to the Freedom Monument πŸ‡±πŸ‡Ή The tile is located in front of the Cathedral, next to the Bell Tower I travelled by bus between Tallinn and Riga and then train between Riga and Vilnius. As I made these two journeys, totalling approx. 8 hours, the enormity of this event really struck me. An impressive and important event in history. #tallinn #riga #vilnius #BalticWay #freedom #holdinghands #estonia #latvia #lithuania
